After spending a little over a year in my cute downtown apartment, I’ve come to think of myself as a Salt Lake City expert and I am here to impart my wisdom to you.
I’ll be honest and admit that when we moved to Salt Lake, I was pretty devastated to be leaving my beloved East coast and didn’t always handle the adjustment with grace. But, after really getting to know this little city, and sometimes viewing it with the harshest of lenses, I’ve come to not only appreciate it, but maybe even love it. Or at least like it a whole stinking lot to the point where I think everyone needs to give it a chance.
So here you are, my guide to everything you must do, see, and especially eat in SLC!
The Bagel Project
This cute, family owned joint is perfect for lazy Saturday mornings. You can’t go wrong with an everything bagel with scallion cream cheese.
Blue Plate Diner
You could really go here for any meal and find something good, but I’m all about their breakfast menu.
I love Oasis for the food and the quaint atmosphere. It’s one of my favorite place to take people who are passing through town.
This Utah chain is my favorite casual spot. I could get the Kale and Wild Rice Salad everyday and never get tired of it.
Hands down the best Mexican food in Salt Lake City.
This is a recent discovery for us and has quickly become one of our favorite places. There are a lot of good Indian restaurants in SLC, but this one is the best.
You’ll think you’re in Italy eating this Neapolitan pizza.
A more casual and budget friendly option for Neapolitan pizza.
Another Utah chain, this Mediterranean spot is a favorite place for meeting up with friends. Get the Street Car Fries with the Works, half sweet potatoes fries and half regular.
A great assortments of pastries and baked goods.
Not just for pizza! The gelato is one of my favorite treats in the summer.
Branbury Cross Donuts
The best donuts in SLC! If you want to get donuts on the weekend, you need to get there early as they sell out quick.
What to See and Do
This short hike overlooks downtown and is easy enough for even the most inexperienced hiker.
One of the most historically significant spots in SLC. There are free tours daily and the grounds are absolutely gorgeous.
The best place to escape from the city, without actually leaving the city.
SLC Farmer’s Market
Enjoy live music, grab some food and enjoy all the local venders.
Enjoy the warm weather and live music with $5 outdoor concerts every Thursday night from June – August.
The only regional theatre in Utah, enjoy high quality performances for an affordable price.
I’m totally biased here, but I love the Grand. It’s the best price in town for live theatre and a great way to support local performers.
Library Roof Top
Open when weather permits, soak up some sun on downtown rooftop during the warmer months.
Going to a Jazz game has become my favorite way to spend an evening. It’s such a fun atmosphere, there are tons of great food options in the arena, and you can find discounted tickets for almost every game.
