On the Go

For years I’ve loved following the blogs of complete strangers who seem to fill their life with the color and happiness that we all seek. And while, from day one I’ve understood that the life we portray on the internet is nothing more than the highlight reel, it has always sparked an interest in me like no other. I love seeing how other people live, what their normal is, especially when it feel so opposite to mine. And because of this fascination, I’ve tried several times to launch my own successful blog. None of which have ever amounted to anything. This time however, something feels different. So now comes my announcement to the 3 of you who actually read here. (And lets be honest, I’ve only posted twice before, so I’m not really letting anyone down with a change in direction.) But I’m changing directions.

I’ve always been someone who can’t seem to sit still. I’m always looking for my next adventure and planning the next 3 steps of my life. It’s a wonderful and terrible quality. In one regard, I’m very organized and curious, but thinking ahead can cause a lot of anxiety and can be incredibly lonely. I tend to have a “grass is greener on the other side” approach, which usually leads to a lot of unmet expectation. Over the past year, I feel like I’ve tried to fight this natural tendency, rather than simply acknowledge that it’s there, and then just go forward. So that’s what I’m trying to do now.

From here on out, I want to allow my natural tendency to wander be something that allows me to connect with others rather than further isolate myself. I want to explore, while knowing that it isn’t a choice between adventure or having a home. I guess in the simplest form of expression, I just want this little space on the internet to be a place where I can pursue and share what I love rather than what I think I need to be posting.

So here it is, I’m taking this blog in the direction of adventure. I might not be heading off to a different country every week like so many travel bloggers are somehow able to do, but I will be exploring more. I’d love it if my 2 readers (and hopefully someday a few more) would join me on this journey. Whether it’s exploring my city, or a different continent, I’m on a journey to find balance between my love of exploration and my need for finding a home.
